One Tray Face, Seven Cell Counts
All seven models in this range are moulded on the same 540 x 280 mm tray face, so a bench, a trolley or a carton set up for one model is set up for all of them. What changes from model to model is how many cells the tray carries and how deep it is: A-032 has 32 cells in a 55 mm deep tray; A-050 and A-072 carry 50 and 72 cells in a 50 mm tray; A-105, A-128, A-200 and A-288 carry 105, 128, 200 and 288 cells in a 40 mm tray. Cell count and depth move together - the more cells a tray holds, the shallower it is - and that is what makes this a range you select from rather than a single tray you buy or leave.
The trays are part of the same planting tools range as our pots, benches and bench accessories, and they are sized on a common footprint so they can be used side by side on the same bench.
Matching the Cell Count to the Crop and the Transplant Stage
The cell count is decided by two things: the seed you are sowing and the size of the seedling you want to lift out of the tray. A 32-cell tray at 55 mm deep gives each seedling a large block of root, so it is the model growers reach for with large-seeded crops and with anything that will be potted on or transplanted as a substantial young plant. A 288-cell tray at 40 mm is the other end of the range: fine seed, short cycles and a lot of plants per square metre of bench.
Between those two ends the choice is usually about the transplant date rather than the crop. A 50 or 72-cell tray buys a seedling several more weeks on the bench before it needs moving on. A 105 or 128-cell tray is the common middle ground for vegetables and bedding plants that go out at a moderate size. If you normally work with a single cell size, a 32-cell seed tray and a 288-cell tray at the two ends of this range will cover most of what a season asks for.
Carry trays are a separate decision. If the job is to move pots or blocks around rather than to raise seedlings in cells, a shallow tray such as our 510 x 420 x 70 mm tray does it better than a cell tray, which is designed to be lifted by the seedling rather than by the pot.
Wall Thickness, Tray Weight and Carton Counts
Every model is offered in more than one wall thickness, and the thickness is the part of the specification that decides how the tray behaves in service. A 0.5 mm tray weighs 75±5 g and a 1.1 mm tray 165±5 g on the A-032 to A-128 models, and a heavier tray holds its shape better when it is loaded and carried, which matters if trays are lifted in and out of a bench repeatedly. The lighter gauges are the economical choice for a single short cycle.
Thickness also sets the packing. Carton quantities for this range run from 100 to 220 pcs depending on model and gauge, and the carton itself changes size at the top of the range: A-032 to A-128 are packed in a 310 x 280 x 545 mm carton, while A-200 and A-288 use a 550 x 290 x 350 mm carton. The per-model figures are all in the table below - those are the numbers to quote from, because the count differs between models even at the same thickness.
A-200 and A-288 are the two exceptions to the thickness range: they are made in 0.7 mm, 0.8 mm and 1 mm only, with weights of 110 g±5, 125±5 and 155±5 respectively. More cells in the same tray face means thinner walls between them, so the very-high-count models are not offered in the lightest gauges.

Working Out a Tray Order
Because all seven models share one footprint, an order can be worked out from the bench rather than from the pack. Tell us the bench length and width, the model or models you run and the thickness you want, and we will quote the tray count that fills the bench with the least waste at the edges, together with the carton count so you know what will arrive. If the trays are going to sit under capillary matting or on a slatted bench, an open-mesh growing tray is worth adding to the same order for drainage and airflow under the pots.
Guidance on propagation and nursery practice is published by the FAO, and commercial growing practice is reported every month by Greenhouse Grower.
Why Us ?
We are the manufacturer specialize in greenhouse and planting tools with above 35 years. We supply over 1,200 different kinds of planting tools. Our planting tools are widely use by farm and agricultural sciences academy and institute at home and abroad. We exported our products more than 120 different countries all over the world.
The whole range sits inside our greenhouse equipment catalogue, so the trays can be quoted together with benches, irrigation and frames for the same house.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I choose between A-032 and A-288?
A: Choose by the block of root you want to lift, not by the tray. A-032 gives 32 cells in a 55 mm deep tray, so every plug is large and holds together when it is lifted; A-288 packs 288 cells into a 40 mm tray for fine seed and short cycles. The five models in between sit on the same 540 x 280 mm face.

Q: Is the tray PP or PS?
A: It is PS (polystyrene), supplied in black. Every model listed in the specification table above is PS, and the material column of that table is the reference for this product.

Q: Which thicknesses can I order?
A: From 0.5 mm to 1.1 mm on A-032 to A-128. A-200 and A-288 are made in 0.7 mm, 0.8 mm and 1 mm only. Tray weight rises with the gauge, from 75±5 g at 0.5 mm to 165±5 g at 1.1 mm on the A-032 to A-128 models.

Q: Can I mix models in one order?
A: Yes. All seven models share the same 540 x 280 mm tray face, so mixed models still stack together and still fit the same bench layout. Send the model, thickness and quantity for each and they will be quoted as one order.

Q: How long will the trays last?
A: Under normal usage they can be used for 3 years. Washing and drying the trays between cycles, and not dropping loaded trays, is what keeps them in service for that period.
