What the Auto Control System Includes:

The system is built from four parts: a weather station, sensors, a master control and a microcomputer. The weather station and the sensors are the eyes of the set up, reading the environmental factors that matter to the crop, temperature and light intensity among them.
 

How the Control Loop Works:

Those readings are fed back to the computer, which compares them with the parameters the grower has set. When a reading drifts away from the set value, the computer drives the facilities in the house to bring it back: window opening, film roll-up, cooling and heating. In other words the house is not run by guesswork, it is run by what the sensors report, and the environmental factors are held at the values that suit the crop.
 

What It Means for the Crop:

The point of the control loop is a growing environment that stays where the crop needs it. Ventilation is opened when the house warms up and closed again when the temperature falls, film is rolled up for the day and back down at night, and heating picks up the load in cold weather, all of it against the same set of parameters rather than against a person walking the house from end to end. Because the values are held steady through the day and night, the crop meets fewer swings, and the work that used to be manual venting becomes supervision.
