The hanging chain and the fixing above it must be rated well beyond that figure, never at it.

A simple rule for installation: check the fixing first, the chain second, the pot last. On timber, drive the hook into a joist or a noggin rather than into a panel. On masonry, use a chemical or mechanical anchor sized for at least twice the planted weight. In commercial greenhouses, run pots along an overhead rail that is itself rated for the total row load, and space the pots so no single fixing carries more than one pot.
