Where Hot Dip Galvanized Pipe Is Used:

Hot dip galvanized pipe, often shortened to HDGP, is the backbone material of modern hoop house and greenhouse structures. Steel pipe is immersed in molten zinc, so the coating bonds with the steel itself instead of sitting on top of it. The result is a frame material that stands up to rain, humidity and soil contact for many years, which is exactly what a grower needs from a structure that works every day of the year.

Hot dip galvanizing has long been a popular method for preventing corrosion because the coating lasts and adapts to many environments. Beyond agriculture, the same pipe serves towers, communication towers, railway and highway protection, lamp posts, marine structures, construction steel components, substation facilities and light industry. For protected cropping, HDGP forms the arches, columns and purlins of hoop houses, single span tunnels and multi span frames. You can browse our HDGP pipe range to see how each diameter matches a different structural role.

Corrosion behaviour changes with the surrounding environment. The figures follow the corrosivity categories of ISO 9223 and BS EN ISO 14713-1, which rate a site by how fast zinc is consumed in that atmosphere: around 13 years in heavy industrial air (C4), about 30 years in city conditions (C3), around 50 years on the coast (C5), and 50 years or more without repair in a clean suburban setting (C2). Thickness, not the name of the process, decides which figure a project falls under, so the coating thickness or zinc mass per square metre should be written into the order and can be confirmed before shipment.

Seven Advantages of Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Pipe:

1. Durable: the zinc layer needs no painting on site. In a clean suburban setting (ISO 9223 class C2) a standard coating lasts 50 years or more without repair, while in urban or coastal air (class C3 to C5) it still holds about 20 to 30 years to first maintenance.
2. Reliable: the zinc layer and the steel form a metallurgical combination, so the coating becomes part of the steel surface rather than a separate film. This makes the protection far more dependable than paint applied in the field.
3. Tough coating: the galvanized layer forms a special metallurgical structure that withstands mechanical damage during transport, handling and day to day use on site.
4. Complete coverage: every section of the workpiece is plated, even inside cavities, at sharp corners and in hidden areas that brushes and sprays often miss.
5. Time and labor savings: galvanizing is faster than other coating methods, and it removes the on site painting work that would otherwise follow installation.
6. Low initial cost: hot dip galvanizing generally costs less than alternative protective coatings, because plant galvanizing is highly mechanized and tightly controlled, while sanding and painting are labor intensive.
7. Simple inspection: the coating can be checked visually and measured with a simple non destructive thickness gauge, so quality is easy to confirm on delivery.

HDGP in Hoop House and Tunnel Frames:

A hoop house lives or dies by its frame. The arch pipes carry wind load and the weight of film or shade screens, while ground contact at the base exposes bare steel to moisture season after season. A zinc coating that is bonded metallurgically handles both jobs, which is why hoop house builders keep choosing hot dip galvanized steel over painted tube. The same pipes also anchor sidewalls, end walls and roll up vents. For a working example, look at a film greenhouse built on an HDGP frame, or compare it with other commercial greenhouse structures we build. Growers who follow industry coverage on Hortidaily will notice that galvanized steel frames remain the default choice for commercial tunnel projects worldwide.

Pipes are only one part of a working site. We also supply other greenhouse equipment, so you can source frame, covering and climate equipment from one supplier instead of chasing separate vendors.

Why Us:

Bozong has 35 years of professional greenhouse manufacturing history. Through the persistent effort of the whole team, the company has grown into a professional greenhouse manufacturer with its own production base, serving growers and project contractors across Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and Latin America for many years. You are welcome to learn more about our greenhouse factory. For planning references on agricultural structures, some buyers also consult public resources such as the USDA before sizing a project. To request a quotation, call +86 191 5068 3942 or send E-mail to sales@cngreenhouses.com with your pipe list or greenhouse drawings.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How many years has your company been in this business?
A: Over 35 years. We design and produce greenhouses and their steel structures in our own factory and export to more than 32 countries, including Russia, the UAE, Kuwait, Canada, Chile and South Africa.
Q: Do you produce the greenhouses yourself, or outsource the production?
A: We are a manufacturer, not a trading company. Ziyang Bozong Greenhouse Industry Co., Ltd has been producing in its own factory for over 35 years, with 180,000 square meters of production space and 378 employees.
Q: How long does the greenhouse structure last?
A: The frame is hot dip galvanized steel. Under ISO 9223 and BS EN ISO 14713-1 the coating gives 50 years or more without repair in a clean suburban setting (class C2), and roughly 20 to 30 years to first maintenance in urban or coastal air (class C3 to C5). The structure itself is covered by a 10 year structural warranty.
Q: Why is hot dip galvanized pipe more reliable than painted steel pipe?
A: Because the zinc bonds with the steel in a metallurgical layer, the coating becomes part of the pipe surface. It resists mechanical damage during transport, covers cavities and sharp corners completely, and needs no repainting on site, while painted coatings rely on surface adhesion alone.
Q: Can you supply HDGP pipes for a hoop house project?
A: Yes. We supply hot dip galvanized pipes for hoop houses, tunnels and multi span greenhouse frames, produced to your drawing or to our standard sizes. Orders are custom, and a minimum of one set is accepted.
Q: How do you check the coating quality before shipment?
A: Each batch is checked visually and measured with a simple non destructive thickness gauge, so the zinc layer thickness is confirmed before the pipes leave the factory.
Note: If you're interested in the product, please submit your requirements and contacts and then we will contact you in two days. We promise that all your informations won't be leaked to anyone.
