What the Multi-Layer Growing Bench Does:

The multi-layer growing bench is a powered tray system that turns one layer of planting area into four. Every bench layer can be pushed out in turn by power driving, so each tray receives the same light, water and care instead of the top layer taking everything - and the whole position change is handled by micro computer control rather than by hand, which is where the labour saving comes from. The effect on capacity is large: in the reference layout the greenhouse covers 652.8 m2 while the planting trays cover 1280 m2, an effective increase in utilisation of nearly 200 percent. The standard design fits a single span greenhouse of 9.6 m by 68 m. Each bench support stands 1.55 m high, runs 32 m long and is 1.1 m wide, and ten sets of bench supports serve that house. Four layers of movable trays fit on each support: 58 planting trays of 540 mm by 880 mm per layer, making 232 trays in total for the four layers. Three of the layers push out by about 0.8 m under power, while the trays on the top layer stay fixed, because the top row already receives full light.
