Greenhouse Flower Varieties:


Greenhouse flowers are not hardy plants, so they do not overwinter in cold temperate regions and a covered house is needed to meet their growing requirements. The temperature they need varies a great deal from species to species. By temperature level, greenhouse flowers are divided into cold room flowers, low greenhouse flowers, temperature greenhouse flowers and high temperature greenhouse flowers.

◆ Cold room flowers:
Indoor temperature is kept at 2 to 5 ℃, such as bamboo palm, cycads and other foliage plants.

◆ Low greenhouse flowers:
These flowers are semi hardy, usually kept at 5 to 8 ℃, such as Primula.

◆ Temperature greenhouse flowers:
These flowers are not hardy and mostly come from subtropical areas. The house is usually kept at 8 to 15 ℃, such as Calceolaria and fuchsias.

◆ High temperature greenhouse flowers:
These flowers originate in the tropics and the house is usually kept at 15 to 25 ℃, such as Codiaeum.
 

Site Selection and Orientation:


A flower house should be built on land with a low water table, adequate and clean water, convenient drainage and irrigation, and loose fertile soil that is free of pollution. The general requirement is that the house runs north to south, with the air vents placed on the east and west sides.

The advantage of this is:

(1). It helps reduce the humidity inside the greenhouse;

(2). It reduces mutual shading between the rows of crops, so that the light is spread evenly over the beds;

(3). In winter it avoids drawing an excessive amount of cold north wind into the house during ventilation, while still allowing enough air exchange.
